The bedroom upstairs includes a veranda overlooking deer paddocks with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. A large skylight window allows you to sleep under the Mackenzie Region’s famous dark sky reserve.
The basic accommodation is the Shearer’s Quarters. This sleeps 20 and is perfect for large groups, families and special occasions. The accommodation is modest but comfortable with a large fully equipped kitchen and a shared living space with a large fireplace.

History

The farm is famous for being the birthplace of the revolutionary Hamilton jet boat. Sir William (Bill) Hamilton who was born and grew up in the area, brought Irishman Creek in 1921. Over time he went from being a sheep farmer to a full-time engineer turning Irishman Creek into an innovative hub not only inventing the jet engine but also designing and constructing many pieces of earth-moving equipment. His original workshop, still standing strong holds many of his original machines, equipment and tools. It is now a museum and a tribute to one of New Zealand’s great inventors.
